For Vista OS is the shut down process a one step or two step process?

Also for Microsoft 7?

Beg your pardon? There are 100's of "steps? Several for each running process.

I mean the final shut off process. I do shut down and I press log off and then it brings me back to the beginning like I could sign in and I have to say shut down again. Is there a way to do a one step process...is there a tweak?
Thank U very much. Coastal:)
