When I shut down Windows 98, I get a message :
"A fatal exception OE has occurred at 016F:BFF7B9A6. The current application will be terminated. Press any key to
terminate the current application. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL again to restart your computer. You will lose any unsaved
information in al applications. Press any key to continue."
[I have not pressed CTRL+ALT+DEL - just tried to shut down as normal.]
When I press any key, shut down procedes as normal, and there seems to be no harm done.
Nevertheless, I would like to know why I am suddenly getting this message, what it means, and if I can remove it.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Welcome to TSG!
Shutdown problems can occur at anytime and are usually caused by conflicts or programs not responding to the shutdown command. Listed below is the recommended proceedure to isolate shutdown problems in win98. Before you do that though
download and run Ad-aware from lavasoft and see if you have any spyware that is trying to phone home at shutdown.
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/downloads.html
Download the program and follow the instructions to scan system.
If spyware is found post back the findings before you remove any of it.
