im looking at this exact product

    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/au/e...116665-1116665-1116665-12924716-78152545.html

    its preinstalled vista.
i am going to use it for web browsing.. and the only programs i will have on it, is a couple of engineering based programs, such as solidworks and mathematica possibly, and maybe something like sony acid.. which is an audio editing program

what problems should i suspect, if any?
rather should i be going for an xp installed notebook
cause to me vista looks pretty cool

also is 1650 a reasonable price for that notebook?

    any help much appreciated

    CAD on a laptop?
    On a Vista Laptop?

I would assume you shouldn't have a problem, especially since I'm sure they'll have patches all the way up to date very soon if there are any problems.

But thats a big load for a laptop, you shouldn't expect good battery life or a cool lap!

Heavy 3d stuff as in CAD from what I take of your uses will heat up any system, especially a laptop and drain battery life.

Looks good to me as far as specs go. I can't see why not for that price and what you need.
