I assume that you have done all the eassy things first, like clean out the temp. files, cookies, defrag and check to see what is running that you don't need.

I can't see any obvious baddies, but how much ram do you have, you are running quite a lot of processor/ram heavy applications

systran is good but resource heavy and should only be run when needed not all the time and I have seen several reports of Babylon slowing down many XP baased systems

The other thing that causes more problems tahn it fixes it memturbo & similar RAM managers. XP does a better job of managing ram on it's own and frwequently these applications actually slow down the computer because XP wants to keep as much as possible in ram for speed but thes applications keep trying to remove everything and keep RAM free, this slows down the computer because XP then has to page everything in & out of the hard drive which is hundreds of time slower than RAM causing lockups and freezes

To XP the only good ram is used ram not sitting empty.

Also
Post-it® Software Notes Lite
is a resource hog and keeps taking memory according to various reports slowing XP down so it's almost unuseable

This is what I would try

first run sfc

Windows 98 start-run-sfc
Windows xp start-run-sfc /scannow

2nd type msconfig in the run line then under start up close any programs that are starting up that you do not use like ms messenger and anything else that you can start yourself.

This will make sure that nothing is running in the background.

3rd disk clean up and defrag system.

4th install say avg anti-virus free and check you do not have a virus

5th CTR-ALT-Delete and see what processes are running and close each one till your pc works ok to find if it is a software problem

6th Run Windows update

7th check out this site
http://support.microsoft.com/search...Type=ANY&maxResults=100&Titles=false&numDays=

8th Bios you have not slowed down the processor in here have you.

9th have a good clear out of large files

10th Check device manager

11th clean your processor fan

12th if in xp do a system restore

If this does not work I would seriously think about a re-install

I have a feeling that a software program is running in the background, bad software installation or you just need to run a defrag
