My problem:

1. My IP blocker (PeerGuardian 2) keeps picking up something called 'PornDirect/SiteFinder/Verisign' or just 'SiteFinder'
2. This always happens when I open my internet log-in screen and when I open a new page on the internet (it really really slows me down opening new pages/logging in to the internet.)
3. I removed it before (I think-it could have just been coincidence) when I deleted something that I downloaded that was not working correctly.
4. It came back when I installed the new version of Norton Internet Security, or because of something else that I don't know about.
5. Running Ad-Aware/spybot/trendmicro venus spy trap/Norton virus protection doesn't pick anything up.

I don't know how to get rid of it, because I don't know where it is in my computer and running spyware scans etc don't pick anything up.

Pleeeease can someone help me get rid of it??!! It is so annoying and it cannot be anything good! Pleease! Thank you!

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Download Cleanup from Here
  • A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
  • On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
  • Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
  • Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
  • A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
  • Click OK
  • DO NOT RUN IT YET

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://uk.red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/btyahoo/defaults/su/*http://uk.search.yahoo.com/
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://uk.red.clientapps.yahoo.com/...b/*http://uk.docs.yahoo.com/info/bt_side.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://uk.red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/btyahoo/defaults/sp/*http://uk.search.yahoo.com/
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/06b973acb4bcd2749520/netzip/RdxIE601.cab

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Click here for info on how to boot to safe mode if you don't already know how.

Now copy these instructions to notepad and save them to your desktop. You will need them to refer to in safe mode.

Run Cleanup:
  • Click on the "Cleanup" button and let it run.
  • Once its done, close the program.

Restart back into Windows normally now.

Do a Panda Active Scan. Be sure to save the log it creates.

Come back here and post a new HijackThis log and the Panda scan log.

I did the active scan and it didn't pick anything up. Where do I find the log for it though? It didn't show me anything to do with a log when I did/finished it.

If that does not work clear all of your cookies and then reset so you have control over them. Go to Tools, Internet options, Privacy, Advanced. Click in Override automatic cookie handling. Select Prompt for Firs-party cookies and Block for third-party cookies.

I've done system restore about 10 times before and nothing happens. I changed my cookie settings too and it's still there. Do you think it could be in a downloaded program from the internet? Should I delete everything and then re-install it? It came back when I installed Norton Anti-Virus (that could be a coincidence) should I un-install that and then re-install it? (Will it re-install if we have already used it on my computer and then another?) Thanks for all your help so far though!

I need to see where the warning is coming from. If it's from Norton post the log or a screen shot.

I don't get a warning. Nothing is ever picked up by any scans whatsoever. This is my problem. I got rid of it once before (I think) for about a week when I deleted something that I think it was in but it came back when I installed the new version of Norton Internet Security. Should I uninstall that and other programs and then re-install them to see if anything is different?

well as peer guardian is meant to be a P2P protective measure and we don't support any P2P application and it is only intended for use with P2P programs I suggest you seek help on their site
