I am technically challenged, but I do know I have 62 processes running.
How do I know what I need & what can be closed.

I run Norton system works anti virus nightly. Update every 2 days. Run Spysweeper 3 times a wk.

Don't do gaming, just general computing.

    XP home
    Pentium 4
    1.69 Gb
    256 Mb Ram

    Hey Jason or somebody,

    I deleted all as instructed.
All seemed fine. Still 35 processes running.
BUT, in my documents some files lost icons & can't open.(400 error)

The files all read backup-200404421-xxxxxx-xxx. Numbers replace x"s.

What do I need to restore ?

to restore any items open hijackthis and click config (bottom right corner)
select the item and choose restor
then restore 2 at a time then reboot,
do this till its fixed, then figure out which program is was an leave it running
    again remove the rest
