    Hi angelflower

If you post your startup list we may be able to spot something

Please post your startup list by doing the following :-

Please go here and download startuplist 1.51 :-

    http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/

Download to any folder or your desktop
    Unzip the zipfile
    Double click the exe file
go to Edit - select all - copy - and paste the results in a new post here

    Hi angelflower

How far did you get ?

Did you doubleclick the .exe file and did you get a readout of a text file in notepad

If so - go to Edit - select all - copy - and paste the results in a new post here

If you want to attach it - you must save the file somewhere first - then after clicking "attach file" - browse to the file

If this is still not clear, please let us know where you are stuck, so that we may offer further help

It sounds like you have downloaded the zip file

You need to unzip it first ( that's probably what the japanese writing says) - do you have an unzipping program - like "winzip" or "winrar" ?

After it is unzipped you will have an .exe file

    hi again,

i have tried unzipping the file with every thing on my computer
notepad, acrobat etc., but the file does not open just the download window which keeps flashing on and off the screen. (i was trying for three hours) i also cannot open any of the word programs on my computer. i dont know if this is anything to do with it. the reason i cannot open any of the word programs is because messages keep coming up in japanese for me to fill in boxes!

    thanks again

It appears you have several problems here - not just one

You must unzip a zip file with a specialest unzipping program like "winzip" or "winrar"

You can't unzip a zipfile with notepad, acrobat etc

Download "winzip 8.0" from here - install it - accept all defaults

Then go to the zip file - right click - extract files

you should now have the .exe file

oops forgot the link - here it is in case anyone else wants it :-

    Hi angelflower

Glad you got that startup list posted - sorry I forgot the link to winzip

There are a lot of things that need to be sorted out

    First go to start\settings\control panel

Click add\remove programs and look for an entry called Save (also known as WhenuSave and SaveNow) and un-install it

    then reboot

Then I suggest you go back to the Control panel and un-install Kazaa then reboot - see this link :-

    http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=64964

If you must have a p2p program - wait until everything is sorted out and get ......WinMX.....or.....Kazaa-Lite

    ---------------------
    PTSNOOP.EXE

    This could harbour a trojan

Do a free on-line virus scan here :-

    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

    or here :-

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

And a free on-line trojan scan here :-

    http://www.anti-trojan.net/at.asp?l=en&t=onlinecheck

    -----------------
    Please Download and install SpyBot,

    http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/

click the online tab to search for and download the updates, then shut down and relaunch SpyBot.

Go to the Settings tab > File Sets, and un-check 'System Internals' and 'Tracks' .
These aren't needed for our present purpose, and you can always experiment with them later on.

Finally, after closing down Internet Explorer, click 'Check for problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds 'Fix selected problems'

you may have to run spybot more than once to clear everything

    Remove everything pre-ticked in Red

    -----------------
There is a lot more to do

Your DPF have at least 2 porn diallers and spyware plugins

And there are programs you need to stop running at startup

But work through the above first slowly and in order and then post a new updated startup list - and we'll continue from there

    Hi angelflower

I see you did the Panda scan - was it clean ?

I see Spybot got rid of weathercast, gator spyware and a dialler among other things - so that's good

Go to your C:\windows\downloaded program files folder and delete all the files except this one :-

    [Shockwave Flash Object]
    InProcServer32 = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MACROMED\FLASH\FLASH.OCX
    CODEBASE = http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab

If any of them are needed in the future you will be prompted to download them again

Then click start - run and type msconfig

click the startup tab and untick

    C:\WINDOWS\LOADQM.EXE
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\REAL\UPDATE_OB\REALSCHED.EXE
C:\PROGRAM FILES\MSN MESSENGER\MSNMSGR.EXE (you can start this manuaty when you want it)
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT OFFICE\OFFICE\1041\MSOFFICE.EXE (as can this)

All these can be re-ticked if you want them to start at startup again

I don't know anything about these 3 files so you had better leave them

    C:\PROGRAM FILES\SHARP\POWEREJ\BIN\FUSEN.EXE
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\SHARP\INTERNET KAISOKUBIN\SMP.EXE
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\SHARP\QSB\QSB.EXE

Also you don't appear to have any anti-virus software installed

If you want you can go here and download free AVG anti virus software :-

    http://www.grisoft.com

And you don't appear to be running a firewall - Zonealarm is a free easy to use one

    http://www.free-firewall.org/

    See if all this helps

I 'm sorry i can't offer any help about the messages in Japanese

Let us know if your computer is running any better :D
