here lately my winXP home machine has REALLY been playing games very slow. not good for racing sims. games are choppy. i have 2 racing sims & simcity3000 unlimited that are not worth playing like this.

    ok, where do i start?
i forgot where the startup program is that lets me paste the content here, so i'll probably need that, too.

I too have SimCity 3000, but it hasn't cause a problem with my system.

Start by cleaning out your system. Defrag your harddrive(s); use Spybot to clean out all the adware. Also, upgrade your DirectX to 9.0, if you haven't already. Otherwise, it should fix the choppyness your having.

i just upgraded to directX 9 and ,while i "think" i see a little improvement, it made no difference. I cleaned out everything with spybot & i defrag regularly. i also unchecked a few (more) entries in "msconfig". Simcity runs really slow and im only getting about 30fps in NASCAR 2002 unless there's a pile-up and then it drops to -10 on some tracks. In F1 2002 i can just look at it and tell the fps is low. ( i don't know how to display the framerate in this game). All i have is my internet connection on ,MS Messenger(don't ask),pop-up stopper & my UPS software in the system tray. I also disabled a few services, but can't remember which, lol. This computer used to run these games "ok", but now...

Scan your disk manually instead of using the scheduler and turning off MS Money Express feature might help,Gun_For_Hire.Unless you turn them off before you start playing games.

Also any other unneeded background tasks.
