    Hey,
I guess today my problem is quite challenging. What happened is after working on Fujitsu Siemens for awhile it's gotten a little twist. I don't wanna do my last resort solution *FORMAT* I'd rather wait and see. Problems are:

1- Takes a long time to boot while the logon screen on.
2- Takes longer period of time after the logon screen disappears.
3- Taskbar apps and the desktop icons appear after 2 mins after logon screen.
    ----------

I did anything I knew, from cleaning registry, defragging, scanning for both HD and viruses. I'm not sure if i've been struck by a virus but the scan results were positive, a trojan and adware were found the former was in the E:recycler/ I think
and the latter was somewhere in restore_information something.

    Check out my log:

Most of the O4 startup entries that are loading during startup and running in the background don't need to be doing so. Make use of this site and get the startup list trimmed down. Other than the antivirus and third-party firewall programs, very few others need to load and run.

Also, go into the Services list and change the setting of Nvidia Driver Helper Service from "Automatic" to "Manual".

Sun Java SE Runtime Environment 1.5.0.06 is outdated. Version 1.6.0.0 is available from here. Download and save the new version, uninstall/remove all older versions from the Add/Remove Programs list, delete all leftover folders from inside the C:\PROGRAM FILES\JAVA folder, reboot, then install the new version.

Post a new HijackThis log so I can examine the O4 list.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Delete all files and folders from inside these TEMP folders:

    C:\WINDOWS\TEMP

    C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\(USERNAME)\LOCAL SETTINGS\TEMP

Unchecking startup entries prevents them from loading and running the next time you start your computer. Other than the antivirus program and the third-party firewall program(for those who use one), very few other startup entries need to load and run. If you uncheck a startup entry and then later decide that you need it, you can go back and recheck it and restart again, then it will load and run again.

There is no such thing as an "average" size for a temp file. If the TEMP folders are kept cleaned out on a regular basis(I do it once or twice a week), they will not build up to a large number. I've worked on computers where this hasn't been done and have found hundreds or even thousands of them which consumed hundreds of MB's.
