My Win XP Home P4 2.6ghz 512mb ram computer is running slow. I have checked for viruses and spyware and found nothing. Although, for the last hour, Norton Internet Security said 2 times that someone is trying to attack my computer, but the attack was blocked.

go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

    ;)

O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'spsublsp.dll' missing

Download LSPfix from here to repair missing .dll:

Also back to your pc running slow, there's a huge amount of processes running that don't need to be, you can go here:
    http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk
It will show you which processes you can remove from start-up using msconfig or HJT to save your resources.

Hey I went to that website and followed the instructions. Everything worked fine, except when Windows starts, there is a box that says "The System Configuration Utilitiy is currently in Diagnostic or Selective Startup mode, causing this message to be displayed and the utility to run every time Windows starts." There is also a box that says click here to not show the message when Windows starts.

What should I do? Is this an error message? How do I stop it?

By the way, I have Win XP Home and it is running faster after I disabled some programs from start-up.
