On a separate thread I asked for help because I got a speed trouble in relation with chkdsk of my external 80 G disk (after what I restarted the PC interrupting the process). But now I want to tell that, absolutely sure, my system got slower after that "adventure": openings of columns, AGAIN the opening of the task bar with fugitive blue square windows instead of icons, trembling of desk icons at the start, clear longer time with the "blue welcome", etc. Before I had the "bright" obsessive idea to run a chkdsk, my PC was peforming more than very well. I am already convinced that a PC is a wonder, but with more than good-for-the-health nightmares, every other day... Many thanks and friendly greetings.

have you defraged the system drive ?
check the space available on the system drive.
cleaned out all temp files.before defraging the system drive Empty the recycle bin also
clean out all internet temporary files as well

check windows task manager /performance/ check memory usage and cpu % with only the desktop showing.

Well, I fixed once again all those points and chkdsk in F is still slow. I feel it's the size. I will uncheck repairing, but, then, I feel that the function itself will be spoiled. Many thanks and greetings.

From your original post, your issue was with a slow machine that occured after Chkdsk was interrupted.

So now, your PC is performing fine?? And the real question was in relation to how fast CHKDSK was running??

Both. Some friend answered, let us say, "wrong", mean into the wrong thread (it doesn't matter) and then, both threads got formally slightly mixed. With respect to the slowness of the chkdsk runnning it got already fixed, thanks to forum members's advices, once again. But the slowness of the PC remains even in the field of internet. I have my usual modest 2 M speed, but it's slow, hesitating, and getting Mozilla to stop at the opening of some pages, as a mater of facts, starting with mine, on a shuffle bassis. I feel that this is some sort of coincidence but I would appreciate any idea about the eventual "ehtiology" of this sickness. Friendly greetings and thanks to everybody.

Dear johnebadbak. please do not feel that I am stupid, but, please, explain me what's blackviper indeed; and tell me also if the danish-freeware is so safe as CCleaner that doesn't delete useful passwords and so on. I am affraid to download applicactions that make my PC heavier, but, also, I am really tired of having troubles. I know that people that do not have troubles it is because they do not use the PC, but, sometimes I get really bothered. Many thanks and greetings

if you want to know about the items mentioned go to the sites and read the information
your not required to download any thing unless you think the info is to your advantage.

i use the temp utility for several years and blackviper's most useful info on tweaking windows machines using microsoft operating systems.

also scan your system for virus and other nasties..that may be stuffing up the operating system..
