Just had a major fire and many of my dvds have smoke damage and my have heat damage. What is the best way to clean the disks. How can I tell if there has been heat damage.

    Alcohol works good for cleaning.

Good old warm soapy water is safest, as alcohol may dull the surface in some cases.

Dry well with a lint-free cloth.

If the DVD is not warped due to the heat, the content is probably OK. Trying to play/access them would soon tell, onece they are clean.
