    Hi BM!
I could manage without sugar snap peas and everything that would have to arrive by boat!! Jetting off for 2 weeks in the sun would be replaced by a slow boat to somewhere.

Commerce by teleconferences and email ... less carbon emissions but replaced by volcano emissions ... hmmm!

I work at a UK airport and it's like a ghost town. Some employers enforcing unpaid leave on their staff eg flight food suppliers, aircraft cleaners etc.

    Truly an international problem.

Well the world would eventually adapt. It would take some time though.

    And hello. :)

It would really damage globe trade, and recovery would take some time, but in the long run, we would be fine.

I believe we could survive quite well without air travel, but the affect on auto and truck bearings would (and will) wear all other transportation out quicker- expect a swarm of cheap cars in a couple months-all squeeking and groaning as they move.
I live near the volcano in Washington state that went off in the 80's and saw a lot of scrapped newer cars.
