Greetings.
Having a strange problem. My best friend can suddenly not access social media while connected to her home wifi connection. (Facebook, twitter, instagram)
The desktop that is hard lined connects with no issues, but no device connected to wireless can. (Laptop Win10, Android phone, Kindle)
When off wifi and connected to cell network, all can be accessed on the phone.

It seemed to happen after allowing network discovery on the laptop, but not sure if that was the cause or if it's something else. We re disabled network discovery, reset defender, winsock, wns servers, and IP. Have rebooted the laptop multiple times, as well as the wireless router, all to no avail. We have also checked all of the allowed apps/connections in Defender to make sure nothing is unchecked that should be. It is strange that this was an all of a sudden issue, and have not as of yet come up with a solution.

Wifi router is netgear, and she doesn't even know how to log into it, so could not have accidentally toggled something in it, no parental controls are in place, and nothing else has been changed that we can think of to cause this.

Suggestions/possible solutions welcome

Thank you,
Nonge

Connect the laptop to the router with Ethernet, if it's fine, then it looks like the wireless portion of the router may have been change or corrupt. I would start with change the SSID/Password, then factory reset the router. If that doesn't work, then look for any firmware updates and try to update it. If none of these work, then it sounds like the router is not defective.

What modem and router (if seperate) does your friend have?

We got it fixed, she had her wireless devices synced, and for some reason Windows Firewall had glitched, even after resetting it. When she turned it off, she was able to access all the social media sites on all her devices, so when she turned it back on, she was still able to. Somehow it had gotten locked up.

We were trying to avoid messing with the router too much, but that would have been the next logical step.

Thank you for the reply and the suggestions!
