I just learned that in addition to my regular award for my Social Security retirement, I'll get an additional reward for my military service.

AW-RIGHT! Those 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Hearts went for something after all!

The average SS check is only about $600. I hope your bonus is enough to put you over the poverty line.

Congratulations Kirkland ......

Thanks for your past service defending me and the others that live in the States and enjoy the freedoms we have here.

BTW, Max, you really don't have much in the way of nice things to say to anyone except to do you know what on their parades, do you? I guess a simple congratulations wasn't enough, huh? Why did you even post if that was all you had to say?

Congrats Kirkland

Anyone that was in the military deserves that plus so much more. Don't let the naysayers put it down.

Hey great to hear. It all adds up for your later years.
My dad got money for his 25 years of military service. Then another 20 year for the County and now has the Social Security too.

It was nice having that Military check each month because it paid all his monthy bills. Home, car etc. Plus the County adds to what he gets from Medicare now so not too bad for all his years that he work for the Air Force and County Building Dept.

Anyhow here is something I just made for you.
To bad I can post it in the size it was made.
It was over 5MB and really looked great.
It looks good still and I thank you for your service for this great USA we live in.

I'm truly stunned for all that all of you have said.

But honest, I only posted the news so others like me (the greatest people in the greatest fraternity (XGI), can be sure to claim their benefits when they take Social Security retirement.

And again...WOW!

Hewee, thanks for my FLAG!! It's saved and I'll find a way to make it part of my sig.

Will get to making a new one and get the name right this time.

"I'll find a way to make it part of my sig"

So are you talking about using it for an avatar?

resizing that one will not look to good but if you want an avatar of a flag with say the medals on it I can do it for ya.

Ok here is an avatar

Kirkland, Congratulations.
Being an ex-serviceman(8 years), I sometimes wish I had of stayed in for the 20. However, water under the bridge. Anything a retired serviceman/woman can get, you deserve it. Fortunately, I am in the VA Medical system and they treat me great.
Again, congrats. Gary (US Army 1958-1966)

Well done, Kirkland.

Even though I'm across the pond, I still recognise what you guys went through. My grandad was in the airforce, based in India.

And those medals that you got for your acts. A double well done.
