I have a HP Cd writer that used to work perfectly. I suspect that a combination of software conflicts have somehow corrupted it. It all started when I installed itunes. This immediately caused my Music Match Jukebox to no longer open. It still won't open even though I've unstalled itunes. Then Media Player and Real Player started to conflict. RP would take over opening all music files even when MP was the default. But then it would quit half way through a few songs. MP became very unstable and would refuse to play files or have very poor sound quality.

So now I've unstalled RP and rolled MP back to version 9. MP will now play files made before all this began, but will not play from the CD player. And I'm unable to write CDs now. It will rip songs but the sound will be very choppy on some and no sound at all on others. It will go through the burn process then stop half way through. I've tried various burn programs with the same results.

I've tried updating the CD driver with no change. Is there anything I can do or do I just need a new one?
