Help needed as I am a complete beginner!

I have tried to download my video (Sony) onto my computer using the software provided by sony however they have advised me this is only possible using the ieee 1394 cable. My computer does not have this port and have inquired and been told it is not possible to have this put on.

My only option apparently is to use usb streaming and to enable me to do this Sony have told me I need to purchase a third party software that allows usb streaming.

I have had a look at the Creator 2010 but am not sure if this will allow me to download my video using usb. As one of the system requirements says ieee 1394 required.

Any help please about which software I should get and what other options I could consider.

Many Thanks for your help...

I asked Dell if I could and they said no. Is this quite easy and inexpensive to add on?

Thanks
