I would like to find a computer program that would allow me to type in a musical score from sheet music and have the computer produce the musical melody for me. Is this possible?

Interesting question, and this may be an answer:
    Introduction to SmartScore X
    http://www.musitek.com/
I didn't fool with it, so let us know how it works.

Thank you Hughv, I do appreciate the suggestion.
I have tried everything I can think of, but this program does not work. It is heart breaking. It involves music, so I have the strongest desire for it to work, but it doesn’t.

I downloaded the demo and scanned some music, and it seems to work OK.
I had an issue with inserting the music in the proper orientation, and the volume, but it works as advertised.
Use the manual to scan and playback properly. It will take a bit of studying, but you might be rewarded for it.
