I have an elderly lady neighbor and half of her life is email and the old original solitaire.
A couple of weeks ago the solitaire quit working. It opens up in a window but none of the functions seem to work. I have downloaded and uploaded the solitaire game from several computers that were working just fine but none of them will work on her computer. Does anyone know what may be causing such a problem?

ALL OTHER GAMES WORK FINE, JUST SOLITAIRE HAS THIS PROBLEM ?????

Can you tell us which version of windows she has installed? Also there are a number of free downloadable solitaire games available.

    Hi,

If you have the original Win 98SE CD theh try this.

    Control Panel
    Add Remove Programs
    Add remove Windows Components

Take the tick out of Games

    OK out of everything
    Reboot

    Go back to control panel

Put the tick back into Games.

You may need Windows 98SE CD at this stage.

Unlike Freecell, I don't believe any scores are stored for Solitaire.

There are numerous free versions of solitaire available on the web.

    hth

Most Windows card game problems are caused by conflicts with other programs -- and it can be a bit of a chore finding out which one.

You can experiment though by running msconfig and selectively unchecking half the programs under the startup tab as a test.

If the problem doesn't occur, then you know one in that half was the problem. If it still occurs, try the other half.

You can proceed to try to isolate the problem.

All actions in msconfig are reversable.

hiya i cant explain why the game would not work but what i can suggest is if you go to a site called pogo.com there will be lots of card games in their and 1 of them is solitaire although in pogo land it is names world class solitaire but its just the same as the original and it will cost nothing to register unless you wish to become a member if you have already heard of this site then i apologise. good luck.
