On start up I get "While initializing device SymTDI. Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer. I ran sfc.exe and that did not find anything. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi and welcome. Did you install any new hardware recently? Or software? Perhaps something from Symantec?

No nothing new added. I do have Norton system work on the machine. Been there forever.

    So this problem just started?

Can you boot to a command prompt only, then type

    scanreg /restore
    and press enter

What kind of dates are there, but NOT TOO FAR BACK?

Ok, let's do this. Find the scanreg.ini file, open it in notepad, and where you see the setting for 5 backups, change it to 10 and save changes.

Then do start, run, scanreg and press enter. You should be told that the registry has not yet been backed up today, would you like to back it up. Say yes.

Then reboot to a command prompt and restore back to 1/25 and restart and see if the problem is solved. If it's worse, you are going to restore back to the one you just made.

Woo Hoo. Up and running. I live just outside of Philly so when I saw your EAGLES note I knew you could fix it. Thanks again, Eric

    Great! Glad to have helped.

Now, if we can just pull off a win. They are giving 7 points here in Vegas. Going to bet tomorrow. Wish me luck! :D
