    hi,

i'm just a newbie and i could really use some help.

my dsl and wifi were working perfectly well until the system suddenly broke down on me 2 days ago.

i use a tenda 5M wireless broadband router model w541r, connected to a dsl service provider (pldt) and work on 2 laptops an old twinhead e12kt running windows XP, and a newer toshiba satellite m305d-s430 running windows vista.

basic problem now is that i can connect but am unable to browse (unable to resolve host) using my wifi router but am able to connect and browse with my laptop connected directly to the dsl modem.

the router is working prefectly fine however otherwise (i can connect using the router ip address and adjust router settings). my router has always been set to auto-detect settings and had been without any problems previously. i have tried releasing, renewing, and rebooting, and connecting and disconnecting my router and dsl.

after browsing some forums, i've tried fiddling with my ipconfig

here is how it looks like connected to my wifi router

i've tried manually setting the wifi router to the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and DNS Servers as seen on my direct cable connection. but it still didn't help.

one thing i've also noticed - if it is of any use is that - even when i am connected directly to the cable, i am able to ping everything else except my dns servers

i was wondering if this could be the problem? why my router cannot resolve my host? (since it is unable to ping the dns server?) if so, why is this only happening now?

i've also tried ipconfig/flushdns and ipconfig/release and renew to no improvement.

i could really use your help. im stuck on the floor right now typing this since my cable is only less than a meter long. i really miss my wifi connection.

    thanks for any help!
