Solved: access denied on backup files

Hello
Not sure if im in the right forum here. I have saved some files and backed up my e mails to an external hard drive as i formatted and re installed a copy of windows xp. When i try to access the files on my external hard drive, i get a message that access is denied. Any ideas much appreciated

Thanks for the reply. That worked fine on all my files except my backed up e mails in a program called "email saver xe". It has 750mb of data in it but i just cannot access it, still access denied. Any suggestion would be much appreciated as i am totally stumped.

Have you tried taking ownership of that file too?

I'm not familar with that software (email saver xe), so can't advise as to restoring your e-mails...

Have you reinstalled the email saver xe software?

I have taken ownership of the file and tried re installeng the xe program but still same problem, driving me nuts.

Well...

Hopefully someone who has used that software can jump in and advise, in the mean time I'll look around, and see if there are any settings in the software...


Anyway...

Gald you got the rest of your files :D (y) ...
