I would be very grateful for some guidance on conceptualizing this idea.

    Here's whats involved:

I have a "Lead Source" combo box with the following choices:

    • Twitter
    • Facebook
    • Member Referral
    • Another Association
    • Other

If Member Referral, Another Association, or Other is chosen I need to know additional information regarding the selection. For example which member referred them? Which association? Or a short explanation for Other.

 How do I go about linking these selections with this additional information, where required? I will not need further info if Twitter or FB is chosen.

You obviously need to add that data in one or more fields or Records.
If it is records, you need a Subtable, in which case you need those choices to also be ina table to pick up the key index that relates to them in the sub table. You will then need to combine the data in a Query for the Combo which makes the combo very unwieldy.
If the data is just another field, which is obviously the best route, it can be added to the current Lead Source data and displayed in the Combo. I usually Concatenate the 2 fieldsin the combo SQL for this so that both sets of data are displayed.

Yes, I created a field for "LeadSource" in the table, and combo box in the form used to populate the table which is connected to this LeadSouce field.

You were saying the best route was to add the additional information to the current Lead Source data and display it the Combo.. will this affect my current set up which I've set up to count instances of lead sources? I have it set up as [ FB: IIf([lead source:]="Facebook",1,0) ] in my query then =Abs(Sum([FB]=1)) to calculate totals in my report.

I have no idea where to start. Right now I only have a "Lead Source" combo box with the following choices:

    • Twitter
    • Facebook
    • Member Referral
    • Another Association
    • Other
Not sure what my next step should be. Do I create another combo box?

Do you have a field for the "other data" that you need to know when you select Twitter etc.

Put some data in the new field so that it can be displayed.

Do you want them to show up together in a combo, as they need no "relating" on your form.
