I made the CD to restore an Acronis backup but can not get it to work. The CD contains a folder named Recovery Manager. In it is Bootmenu.exe but when I click on it I get a window
    16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
and a line The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal Instruction.

    HELP!

Is it the rescue media builder CD you made? If so that doesn't run in windows, instead you boot to that CD and perform the backup recovery without going into windows.

I was not booting from the CD. You gave me the clue, I changed to boot from CD first and it loaded the Acronis restore from the CD OK.

    Thanks for the clue.
