Solved: Ad-aware good?

    is Ad-aware a good program? i have it, but someone told me that it puts spyware on your computer just so that it can find stuff. should i keep it or delete it?

    keep it, its one of the best free progs available.

    That someone was probably referring to adware which is one of the generic mechanisms used to put spyware on unsuspecting/unprotected computers - not to be confused with the excellent freeware Ad-Aware SE product from Lavasoft which helps to remove spyware from computers.

    SpywareBlaster is a great tool to keep you from getting spyware in the first place. Adaware is fairly good but does not get rid of everything, none of them do.
