I just got a new pc and tried to install my Norton Internet Security Professional 2004 and it slowed downed my pc so much that I decided to uninstall it. Which I did in add/remove programs. I also downloaded and installed Spybot, Lockspan Pro, RegistryMechanic. I also have McAfee which came with my pc. Now when I boot up the pc the first thing that stumps me is the pop-up ccapp.exe this application failed to start because Symredir.dll was not found. Is is safe to go into hijackthis log and delete all the listings with Symantec?
The second problem I am having is that now I can't seem to receive my mail. It is telling me that my pop3 server is not responding.
    I am running XP

Best thing to do, is paste a copy of the entire HJT log- or better still a new one [version 1.99?] in this thread since symantec usually has quite a few entries in the log.... Maybe more issues are involved too that can be seen in the log.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {4D25F926-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\deSrcAs.dll
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4D25F921-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\deSrcAs.dll
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe"
    O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com
    O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com (HKLM)

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Locate this file: c:\windows\system32\iga.dll right click, select properties, version tab and tell me what's in item name and value.

cybertech......I ran HJT and fixed the items you suggested....I rebooted and the 04 - HKLM\..\Run:ccApp problem didn't pop up on my desktop at reboot....So that is good...I wasn't able to find c:\windows\system32\iga.dll I went into explorer and found c:\windows\system32, but no \iga.dll.... this is a new system for me and I am not real familiar with XP yet...In my win98 I could go to start, find and type it in and find it that way. I don't know how to locate things in XP. Is there an easy way like I had in 98?

Open Windows Explorer. Go to Tools, Folder Options and click on the View tab.
Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".
Now click "Apply to all folders", Click "Apply" then "OK"

In NT instead of "Find" you "Search". Once you can see all of your files and folders it will feel more like W98 but you'll see quite a difference in the directory structure.
