No, but if you give us more details, we might be able to help you get yours running.
Who is the ISP supplying the connection? What's the exact mobile card you have installed in the router?
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.
Make and model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc.
Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.
On any problem computer, I'd also like to see this:
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:
Type the following command:
IPCONFIG /ALL
Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.
If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
Thanks for your reply. I got my aircard from AT&T and they supply my service. I have a Sierra Wireless Aircard 881 PC Card. The router that I'm trying to get working is an Airlink101 802.11g wireless 3G Mobile Router Model #AR360W3G. My desktop is a custom built (by my brother) Pentium 4 CPU, 3.20GHz, 1GB RAM, w/MSI motherboard. I also have a Toshiba Satellite laptop A105-S4001 1.66GHz. The laptop is running Windows XP Home Service Pack 2 and the desktop is running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. Both are up to date on Microsoft updates.
This router has a 'system log' that is getting this message
pppd[187]: In file /etc/ppp/peers/3g_options: unrecognized option '/dev/modem'
I'm wondering if it doesn't like my aircard!
Also in the system log is:
dhcpd: Listening on LAN 192.168.1.0
httpd: 192.168.1.100 logins successful
Following is the IPCONFIG with my aircard running in the desktop - not the router:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
So, the card works in the desktop, but not in the 3G router? I'd be talking to the router tech support. Do they list that card as compatible with their router?
I've been trying to get a hold of their technical people. Just thought maybe someone else might have already done this. They just say 3G cards and mention Cingular, Verizon & Sprint. Guess I'll try and call them tomorrow. Thanks, Linda
I just wanted to update this incase it would help anyone else. This router did work! After finally talking to a tech, he told me that when the router (which is what that message did mean) does not recognize the aircard that you can get the aircard's MAC address from an IPCONFIG /ALL (physical address) (of course, that means you have to already have the aircard working without the router) and input that address into the MAC address field on the router setup. It may not work for all aircards, but it did work for the Sierra 881 PCMCIA aircard. Also, as far as AirLink101's technical support goes. If you don't get through by phone, leave a voice mail. They did call me back and that person did help. As for their web tickets, their answer from it was to return the router - that it would not work & it was VERY SLOW getting that back. And, maybe they say email or live chat when you are waiting on hold, but I found no way to do either. Also, they sent me an email to complete a survey about their voice technical support - and when I tried, it told me I was not authorized. So, they do have some issues!
The reason that I am returning this router is because my 3G signal is not strong enough. And, who knows when AT&T will have more antennas installed so that I have 3G ALL THE TIME. This router does not work with 2G.
If anyone what's to know anymore about my adventures with this router, email me at lindadpollock@yahoo.com
Thanks for the feedback, too bad it didn't work out for you.
