A belated hello here Brikelly. Sorta bumped your way out of a response, as the added posts give your request the appearance it is receiving assistance already. The log shows mostly very undesirable softwares so far, like adware vendor CiD's Messenger Plus, which is only meant as a delivery system for it's Lop infection. And SpywareBot, which has been listed here already, and is really just a limp attempt at anti-malware software in order to coerce the user into purchasing it. You really should consider uninstalling both of these through Add/Remove Programs when you can. However, neither of these would be involved in that alarm issue, and as that really may be a pressing hardware problem your best choice would be to follow up with your request here on that.

Hi there and thanks for the reply! My intention is to take apart the box and clean up inside! Are you saying i need to remove Ad-Aware and SpyBot - search and destroy? If so do you have any recomendations of what software i should install to protect my computer! best regards Brian

No, I didn't mention those two softwares, just pointing out the bad things related to those Messenger Plus and Spywarebot softwares. But neither would be tied to the noises you are hearing from your computer.

Sounds like you resolved an overheating problem there - must have been rewarding to get that accomplished. SpywareBot and Messenger Plus often seem to open doors for other unwanteds as well, so let's take a different look here and address it all.

Go Here and download Silent Runners to your desktop. Run it, and post back here the log it creates. If your protective software queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious. It will create a file named Startup Programs, and will notify when the scan is complete. Copy the log from the Startup Programs file back here along with a new HijackThis log please.

Something has corrupted your Windows Management Instrumentation, but I sure didn't see anything so far that would have done that. It was a known past trick of malware to thwart repairs. We can try to basically reset/repair it, and if not reinstall it.

To do the repair go to Start - Run, type cmd (Enter after). At the prompt type net stop winmgmt (and Enter). If you get a warning, type Y and continue.

Right click Start, select Explore, and locate the following hilighted folder and delete it (only the hilighted folder).

C:\Windows\System32\WBEM\Repository

Then reboot.

After the reboot again go to Start - Run, type cmd (Enter after). Type the following commands (Enter after each).

winmgmt /clearadap
winmgmt /kill
winmgmt /unregserver
winmgmt /regserver
winmgmt /resyncperf

Then a simple test would be to try running Silent Runners again.

You will need to rebuild it then, which is usually a fairly simple procedure.

Go to Start - Run, and copy/paste or type the following.

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection WBEM 132 %windir%\inf\wbemoc.inf

This will start the process of rebuilding your WMI, which you need for many ongoing operations there.

When you are prompted to locate the files, use the browse button to locate the following. It will at first default to your CD drive, so use the browse to redirect it:

C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

The repair will take some time to complete. You will get a display popup when done.

Reboot after, and try a script tool like Silent Runners again.
