    Hey everyone, I am thinking of building my family a new computer as the other one is not doing so well and tbh is getting kind of out of date now. I am planning on buying the following parts and I would appreciate it if anyone could make any changed for the better that may save a bit of money or make a noticable difference to the performance or quality of the build. The price is currently £485. I could probably go upto £500. This is the setup at the moment;

    Any help with this would be great,

    Thanks, Jack-O-Bytes

    Just starting to look at your parts, but you need to choose a different case. The one you have choosen is a micro ATX and your mobo is ATX.

    OK, I have looked at the motherboard, It says mATX in the top bar thing and only has 4 expansion ports so that is a Micro ATX i am sure :S

    Power supply, OK I will bear that in mind but the review does seem positive and judging from the capacitors it uses and the filtering it is a pretty good quality unit

    The computer will be used mainly for internet use, HD video from youtube and also films with the BD-Rom drive. I will also occasionally use it for some light gaming but as it is a family computer and I have my own I don't see that happening much lol

    My mistake you are correct. I just looked it up on a US site (understand things there better).
    The only other thing some of the guys on the forum have recommended Caviar green or black claiming there were more issues with the blue. I can't confirm that is true.

    Anything else I would change would be personal preference only. I think you're good to go.

    I have used all of those and they have been fine. But, I only use WD caviar black in my personal computers. Here again it's a personal preference and performance choice. I would choose WD caviar black, samsung then seagate.

    Well i cant find a 500gb caviar black on the website and the caviar greens are too slow really because they are 5400rpm I think.
