    Hi
Got an ASUS P5VDC-MX motherboard that only gets to the formatting stage of the hard disk under XP setup and then shuts off.Tried with minimum ram and various hard disks.

Any ideas to help troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

OK found the answer reading your setup notes. CPU was over 55ºC. It was a broken heatsink foot. A toothpick wedged in the hole was enough to hold it firmly to the motherboard. Will add some adhesive tomorrow.
    Cheers
