What's the deal with the latest Catalyst drivers? I just installed 4.8, and I would get a black mask over the image in PowerDVD, and Fullscreen in WMP9 when watching DVDs from my Virtual Drive. You can hear the movie playing and all, so that's not the issue.

I uninstalled them, and put back 4.6, and they play fine.

Is this some sort of protection/encryption system? If not, is this some sort of driver problem?

How stupid. (If its the former)

Did you do a uninstall of the previous drivers before installing the latest CATs, if using winXP I find that its best to turn off windows restore and then uninstall and install the latest drivers.

Yeah, I uninstalled 4.6 first, as per the instructions.

How would turning off system restore affect it?

If you have two displays, it could be macrovision protection. PowerDVD normally only displays on the primary display. If you changed drivers it could have set the primary display incorrectly.

Well, upgraded to 4.9, and still have the same problem. I thought it may have something to do with codecs, so I downloaded some, and it worked for about a second. I watched a few seconds of a dvd, and thought "yay, it worked". But then I closed MP10, and did some other stuff. Rebooted, and the problem was back. Very weird.

Well, it fixed itself, after I rebooted. I hate computers.
