MY friend's IPOD has taken ill. I haavent been able to figure out if its the battery or if the board on her ipod is toast. She charged it one day and it wouldn't turn back on....really not wanting to waste money on a new battery only to have it not work, we decided to get a 1.8 inch ATA drive enclosure and attach it to her PC and recover her music. Here's my question(s)

I'm not sure what format the ipod drive is...i'm assuming a standard mac format....but what is it? Can windows XP read it? I know jack about macs so i dont want to hook them up to find they aren't speaking to each other

I'm sorry, i don't think i made my post clear enough. I will be removing the drive from the ipod and placing it in a USB zif drive enclosure. After I will attach the drive to her PC. The ipod itself will not function
