Recently I have noticed a "feature" that I do not recall in the past. Lets call it "Auto Scrolling" for lack of a better term.

It occurs in almost every application where I drag the cursor over text to make a selection or use the scroll bars. Suddenly the cursor changes to and up and down triangle with a dot in the middle and text scrolls rapidly. It is difficult to control and certainly undesirable. Does anyone know more about this action and how to turn it off? It is very annoying,

Normally if you wanted that feature you'd get to it by pressing down on the mouse wheel. Assuming that you aren't accidentally doing so, I would suggest checking in your mouse properties that nothing odd is set to simulate a "middle click" or mouse wheel click. For example on my touchpad you can set taps in the four corners and clicks of either button to have a specified function, including a mouse wheel click.

Thanks for your input. The problem appears to be a faulty wheel in my mouse. I tried another mouse and the problem did not occur.
