So I've read some threads on preference of anti-virus and firewall software. I've narrowed my choice to AVG or Avast!. However, I have another question before I install either.

My PC is an AMD XP 1800+, 512MB, 80GB, XP SP2 installation. I am currently running Symantec 2003 with a very recently expired subscription. I have also installed Firefox and Thunderbird (love them!), and want to continue their use.

My question stems from the use of these applications in conjunction with AVG and Avast!. The Avast site states that it REQUIRES a WORKING version of IE4 or higher. So, is there any incompatability for either of these with Mozilla apps? Anything to watch for? Anyone using these together with issues?

    Thanks a bunch!

    Thanks!

FYI - I chose to load Avast simply because I found more "positive" posts on other sites like ZDNET. Also, most of the posted "issues" with AVG was with the latest version, so that made me skiddish. The install and initial scan went great (didn't find any viruses) - so far - no problems!

    Thanks for the comments!
