hi, relatively new to computing so excuse the stupid question relating to backing-up on XP.

I have some back up software I acquired from a magazine c.d. which looks like it will do a capable job. My problem is I've made a back-up job that seems to duplicate many folders.

most things I want to back up are either under

    My computer\alanmzifa's documents

    or

    Desktop\mydocuments

according to "properties" the file paths for both appears to be

C:\Documents and Settings\alanmzifa so I believe it's essentially the same information I'm copying. Is there a difference to any of the information saved depending on which path I follow and should I be copying only the entry from Mycomputer\alanmzifa's documents instead of both.

    thanks for your help.

Just backup C:\Documents and Settings\alanmzifa and you will be fine.
