Around this time, last year, my area had a terrible ice storm that left us without power for a week. We were totally in the dark (no pun intended) about the weather and how much more was coming. Now that I have an iPhone to use, I figured that with the 3G I would be able to read radar and such. The battery though, does not last for an entire week. Heres the question. We have two laptops in my house. I could use the charge off those for a few days if needed, ideally, but I was wondering which allows the charge to last longer. Closing the lid simply, or turning them off all together? Thanks for the help.

hmm, the battery would last longer if you have the display off or at it's lowest setting. Go to your battery setting, choose power save setting, then make it so that the computer doesn't go into sleep but turns of screen after like a few minutes and then change the it so that when you close the lid the computer doesn't sleep or hibernate. This way you can save battery by not having the display on but still have the laptop running in a very low power consuming rate. So you might be able to get around 1.5 full charge out of each laptop.

Hm. So either way I would probably only get around 4 or so days out of my iPhone. Alright thanks though. Let's pray it wont last as long. Should I turn off one laptop if I am not using it?

yeah. You should invest some money into an external battery pack for your iphone. Some of the more powerful ones gives you about 5 or 6 full charges or you could get a small generator to charge the phone and some other stuff for your house to.

I was stuck in hurricane katrina a while back and a generator was life saver. It charged my laptop, computer, ran my fridge, tv, and game system. 2 weeks without power.
