I have an older laptop that I just got up and running again (lost power cord and all that), but when I boot it up now, it gives me an error having to do with IDE. I assume this has something to do with the hard drive, but it being a laptop, I don't even know where to begin to begin diagnosing it.

The laptop is a Omnibook XE3, with Windows 2000 on it. I'd be happy to get any other information I can, but I don't know exactly where to start.
