I just had a Microsoft update and 10 minutes later i had the blue screen of death appear not sure if they are related ?

    The updates were

    Security update for Windows XP
    Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8

    Thank you

    Dan

are you able to login using safemode
    if so do a restore

as the PC starts keep tapping F8 - a menu appears - choose
safemode - see if that works

    For windows 8

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Restore PC to an Earlier Date & Time

    Go Start>>All Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>System Restore

    • Click in the radio button Choose a different restore point
    • Click Next
    • put a tick in Show more restore points
    • Pick a Date before this happened
    • Click Next
This should restore the PC to that time & date

you may need to use safemode to do the restore. As the PC starts keep tapping F8 - a menu will appear - choose safemode

we wont know - it maybe windows update - updated a driver

what is written on the blue screen any stop codes ? 0x00?
    and any filenames shown
may give an indication of the issue

so did it work on a reboot ?
if so - you can sometimes get a type of blue screen as a one off

if it happens again ,make a note of what the screen says - or take a picture with a camera or phone

is the PC working all OK now ?

I did a system restore and no issues for two weeks, could Microsoft updates have been the issue ?
