Ok, a few months ago we got high speed internet, and I already had the router for about 7 months without using it, until we got the high speed. But recently I've had some connection problems, it would disconnect from everything but not say that it did it, earlier this morning I decided to unplug it for a while to see if that would help any. But I go to plug it back in and now it's making a hissing noise, what could that be?

    It's a Microsoft MN-700 by the way.

    Thanks.

Dont know what it could be, but sometimes things can be fixed by reversing what you did to create the problem in first place, so do this:

    1. Turn the router off from the power switch
    2. Unplug it.
    3. Leave it for 3-5 mins
    4. Plug it back in.

    ohhhh....

    Two more suggestions then

    1. Get a new one
    2. Repeat the same procedure in my last post except change the wait time to 1 day.

Q: But whats causing the problem?

A: Probably a wire touching the plastic or a metal surface

    Hehe, thanks but no :p

I like the one I'm getting because it runs a Linux system inside of it :p

Why would you care if it has Linux inside? It's an appliance, you plug it in and use it.
