My computer is working fine other than the browser (IE6). It takes about 2 minutes to open a page. Once opened it works fine. My home page is google, I can see the page right away but it's frozen. It stays that way for about 2 minutes then it works fine. No other problems arise until it tries to open a new page. Then the same thing happens again.

I emptied all the offline and temp Internet files. Also emptied cookies and history. Ran spybot and adaware but it had no effect.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi!

I suggest you update it to v.7, if you must endure the horror that is IE, at least do it with style:D

I'd love to do that but I've got windows 2000.

Yes, it takes 2 minutes to open a web page. Once opened I can surf and it works normally.

How about using Firefox? I never use anything else:)

Still, do you have all the updates for IE6? Do you have any toolbars installed (like Google toolbar)?

    I suggest you:
    1. update if needed
    2. uninstall any toolbars
    3. try reinstalling IE6

Firefox is the best browser and is has been shown to be much faster( as much as 2-3 times) the speed of IE6.

Try clearing out the cookies and history in your explorer tools. Also, do you have any apps added on to your tool bar? It may be that the added items are hogging up your load time for your browser. If that is the case, disable those items, close your browser and reload to see if that takes care of it.

Firefox is also a great browser, however, if you do not like change, please note they do some things VERY different.

Like what? I can't seem to remember any large differences, except if you mean one works much better than the other - now there's a HUGE difference for you!:D

Also try to see if you can fix your Version 6.

    Start> Settings> Control panel> Add remove programs> select IE6>repair

It turned out to be the google toolbar! I am very surprised as I've had it for a long time without any issues. I would have never guessed that. Thanks to everyone who gave me so many options to try.

PS - I had firefox and I don't like it. I'm sure it's a good browser and I've heard lots of good about it but I'm used to IE.
