Late last week my computer started having problems and since then I've been trying to solve them as best I can, but they seem to keep coming back. The most noticable issue is pop up ads whenever I'm online, but there seem to be quite a few underlying issues still lingering on my computer. I've used Spyware Doctor, Vundofix, Ad Aware and SuperAntiSpyware so far, but nothing seems to permanently fix the problem. The most common thing to come up in those sweeps is Virtumonde, but I've also had a few hits on other things like Trojan-Downloader.ConHook and Trojan.Agent.AOY. Vundofix says I've also got pmnkkkl.dll on my system, but it can't seem to fix it. Can you offer me some help? Here's my HJT log:

    pc is.

Highlight the portion of the scan that lists infected items and hold
CTRL + C to Copy then paste it here. The whole log with be extremely

I'm still working my way through all of your instructions, but I have encountered a problem that I thought I would mention. When I entered safe mode this morning, it worked just fine. When I entered it a few minutes ago, it kept going from the actual desktop to a pop up screen that said I was about to run in safe mode and that I had to click ok in order for it to take me back to the desktop (clicking no made it go to system restore instead). The program still finished ok, but I had to keep clicking that pop up every thirty seconds or so. Should I be worried about that?

Ignore that last message. The safe mode opened just fine this time and the programs ran without problems. I'm still working my way through the last bit, but I did hit a snag when running the AVG program. It found some infections and deleted them just fine, but it didn't create a report for me, even though I clicked the box telling it to. So while I'm going to have some of the logs, I don't have that one.

Okay, we've got another snag. I downloaded Mwav and ran kavupd, all of which went fine. But when I tried to run mwavscan, a notice pops up telling me that the virus database is older than 30 days and that I need to download the latest toolkit. I'm not sure what to download and I have no idea what to do now, so that's where I'm stuck at the moment. I've run everything else and everything already seem to be better, but I just want to make sure so where do we go from here?

Try updating it again! if it still won't run then doonwload Dr web and run it instead!

    * Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
    ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe

    * Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
    * This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is
    found,
click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a
    short scan.
    * Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings
    * Choose the "Scan"-tab, remove the mark at "Heuristic analysis".
    * Back at the main window, mark the drives that you want to scan.
    * Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
    * Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
    * Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
    * When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the
    files found: IPB Image
    * If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move
incurable as you'll see in next image:
    IPB Image
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it
can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
    * After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose
    save report list
    * Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
    * Close Dr.Web Cureit.
    * Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will
    be moved/deleted during reboot.

you don't appear to have a either a firewall or an anti virus, downlaod these from the links below! Once installed update anti vir!

    Anti-vir

    http://www.free-av.com/

Comodo firewall. Sign up it's free!

    http://www.personalfirewall.trustix.com/

    Threads on comodo!

    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31

have hijack this fix these entries. close all browsers and programmes before
    clicking FIX.

    O2 - BHO: {c57eb7f4-d679-5759-b7c4-2308d1c5dee1} - {1eed5c1d-8032-4c7b-9575-976d4f7be75c} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\iuhqdgsi.dll (file missing)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: hgggefd - hgggefd.dll (file missing)

    * Copy the entire contents of the Quote Box below to Notepad.
    * Name the file as CFScript.txt
    * Change the Save as Type to All Files
    * and Save it on the desktop

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at "C:\ComboFix.txt"

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause
    it to stall

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

    http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

    * Restart your computer
    * After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the
    Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    * Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should
    appear;
    * Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press
    Enter.
    * Choose your usual account.

    * Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start
    the script.
    * Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
    * It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds
then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    * Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    * When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the
removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and
    load your desktop icons.
    * Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and
also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on
    the forum).
    * Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a
    new HijackThis log

you have superantispware, run a full scna with that!

Make sure your ActiveX controls are set as follows:

Go to Internet Options - Security - Internet, press 'default level', then
    OK.
    Now press "Custom Level."

In the ActiveX section, set the first two options (Download signed and
unsigned ActiveX controls) to 'prompt', and 'Initialize and Script ActiveX
controls not marked as safe" to 'disable'.

    Active X settings

    http://www.compu-docs.com/activex.htm

Run ActiveScan online virus scan here

    http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

When the scan is finished, anything that it cannot clean have it delete it.
Make a note of the file location of anything that cannot be deleted so you
    can delete it yourself.
    - Save the results from the scan!

make sure autoclean is enabled on the scans

post another log, the combo, sdfix, the super and the panda scan log!

Once again, something didn't want to run on my system. When I tried to run the PandaScan, it says that there was an "Error in downloading ActiveScan." I tried to run it twice, rebooted and tried to run it twice more and got the same message every time. Otherwise, everything ran just fine, but when the SuperAntiSpyware ran, the antivirus program you had me install kept popping up with different files it said were part of Vundo or ConHook or something like that. I kept telling it to delete those files. I think those are the only issues that came up. Otherwise, here are all the logs, starting with the HJT:

    clean log.

how's the computer running now any better?

You should now turn off system restore to flush out the bad restore points
    and
then re-enable it and make a new clean restore point.

How to turn off system restore

Here's some free tools to keep you from getting infected in the future.

To stop reinfection get spywareblaster from

    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/downloads.html

get the hosts file from here.Unzip it to a folder!

    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

put it into : or click the mvps bat and it should do it for you!

    Windows XP = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
    Windows 2K = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
    Win 98\ME = C:\WINDOWS

ie-spyad.Puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected

when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.

Use either Arovax or spyware terminator, you could try both and see
    what one you like!

    Arovax shield.

    http://www.arovaxshield.com/

    Spyware Terminator

    http://www.spywareterminator.com/dnl/landing.aspx

In spyware terminator, click real time protection and tick the box to use
real time protection and tick all the boxes except file exceptions shield.
If your confident in using its advanced feature, click advanced and tick
    the HIPS box.

If you want to install and uninstall programs it is best to
temporarily disable Spyware terminator and then re-enable it after you
have installed or uninstalled a program as it will create a lot of pop ups
asking you do you wish this to happen!

Right click spyware terminator on the bottom right of your status bar and
choose exit. Then tick the box and that is spyware terminator disabled!

Use spybot's immunize button and use spywareblaster' enable
protection once you update it. you can put spybot's hosts file into
    your own and lock it.

I would also suggest switching to Mozilla's firefox browser, it's safer, has
a built in pop up blocker, blocks cookies and adds. Mozilla Thunderbird is
    also a good
    e-mail client.

Another good and free browser is Opera!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. So glad everything seems to be up and running clean again. Just had one more quick question before I mark this whole thread as officially solved. I'll go ahead and download some of the programs you suggested in your last message, but what about all of the programs I've been installing over the past couple of days? Should I go ahead and delete all that or should I save some of it?
