I've attached a HJlog. I cannot get a picture on the desktop background. Whenever I select a picture from browse, the apply tab never lights up. I can change color but that's it. I have tried many of the remedies suggested in previous post concerning " can't change wallpaper" to no avail.
It has to be something that hj the computer. Please-Thank you!

    Try Allow Wallpaper/Background Change.

Save the .reg file to your desktop. Double-click it to merge it to the registry.

    Restart the computer.

If the fix only opens as a text file, right-click it and select Open With > Choose Program... Then, select the Registry Editor.

If the Registry Editor is not in the list, browse to C:\WINDOWS and select regedit.

    I did it- no go.
Still no changing wallpaper to a pic. I can change color but don't get the "apply" tab when I select a picture.
Will try anything else to solve this problem. Something is wrong!
Do you see anything in the HJ log that looks suspicious?
    Thanks for replying.

Have you tried Windows XP's default wallpapers?

I have tried to change colors and themes. While it does let me click the "apply" tab, nothing changes. In fact, when I go back into the background window I noticed that the color I select to change is no longer selected and the window shows "none" instead of the color I choose.
Something has control over it! Something very stubborn...please don't give up on it! What can I try next?
