    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
    # 127.0.0.1 localhost
    # ::1 localhost

    has it ever worked?

    please complete the following:

    Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post back the report it creates:
    • Download MGADiag to your desktop.
    • Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program
    • Click "Continue"
    • Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).
    • Click the "Copy" button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
    • Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

    Also please do this:

    Please download WVCheck and save it to your desktop.

    • Double click WVCheck.exe to run it. (If you downloaded the zipped version you will need to extract it first.)
    • As indicated by the prompt, this program can take a while depending on your hard drive space.
    • Once the program is done, copy the contents of the notepad file as a reply.

    Or, alternately, you can remove those Chinese DNS name servers from 3 locations in the registry. As stated by dvk01, Facebook and other websites are blocked in China.

    Press the Windows key + R to open a Run box.

    Type regedit

    Press Enter.

    Browse to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{13D27CB3-601B-4233-8F8D-D13ADA6A6BFD}

    In the right pane, double-click NameServer and delete only 218.245.255.197 (Chinese DNS server).

    Then, go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{13D27CB3-601B-4233-8F8D-D13ADA6A6BFD}

    Again, in the right pane, double-click NameServer and delete only 218.245.255.197.

    Go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{13D27CB3-601B-4233-8F8D-D13ADA6A6BFD}

    In the right pane, double-click NameServer and delete only 218.245.255.197.

    Exit the registry editor and try Facebook again. However, it may be necessary to restart the computer for the registry changes to take effect.

    If i change the alternate dns and preferred dns servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 which is the google public dns
    then i am able to access facebook and youtube.com

    but if i remove those addresses ie. 218.245.255.197 (chinese ones) from the registry,its not working....
    please provide a perfect solution

    I wanna to ask a question,from where these chinese ip addresses came to my computer as i have recently installed windows 7 on my pc,and used it hardly 10 times only,and i only access facebook and youtube.com basically..

    In that case, I'd stick with Google Public DNS. They are fast and reliable DNS servers.

    I have no idea how you ended up with those Chinese DNS servers. Have you been to China recently? Is the computer brand new or did it belong to someone else?

    Did your ISP make your network setup?

    also if use facebook and youtube.com through temporary solutions like changing dns to google public dns,my system hangs up,as soon i restart my connection, and type facebook.com.
    I have to switch off my connection as restart it again,then it works fine...why is this happening??
