Laptop running win7 x64 suddenly started not being able to access internet.
I've browsed online, and never found a solution that worked for me.

Here is what I know, no browser will work, IE, firefox, Chrome
Other internet applications work, games, vent, windows update
The adapter is fine, (tried a linux live cd and got online np)
No software firewall is blocking any ports, never had any.
It is not specific to my home network, I cannot get online at public places.
    I can ping anything
I did not install anything or adjust any settings prior to this problem.

Here is what I have tried.
I have tried, resetting the wireless card, and uninstalling, reinstalling it.
I have tried checking my dns servers, all of that works fine.
I've tried varios winsh commands, from command prompt according to other sites' solutions

(I ave tried some other things, I will let you know if I think of them)

I wnated to get this fixed as soon as possible so I posted this early.

2 things I have yet to try when I get home.
    starting in safemode with networking
using my wired network card with wireless disabled.

Please let me know some other suggestions, I've had this problem once before on a diff comp running winxp, and I never got it fixed.

I'm not very advanced when it comes to networking, the only thing I can think is that its a problem with something blocking port 80 in the architecture?

Some new information, I was fooling around, and I opened up firefox,
I have an extension called IEtab to run internet explorer based windows inside firefox.

I have able to get online through that. ---Extra info just in case, the extension is called "IE TAB 2"
It did run VERY slowly, it is set to run IE7 compatibility mode, I tried it in IE 8 mode and it worked too

NOTE: I cannot use the regular internet explorer, 32 or 64 bit to get online

Did you try Safe Mode with Networking yet?

Please click HERE to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next reply.

    IMPORTANT: Do not fix anything

Alright, it seems that safe-mode with networking is..working

I'm using google chrome at the moment , and I tried firefox and internet explorer, they all worked.

Also, this didnt come up in a normal startup, when I started google chrome I got a corrupt file message which looked to be somewhere in where chrome stores its profiles, and it told me to run chkdsk, what do you think?

PS, im trying to find out exactly what that message said at the moment

Also this message has been in the even viewer every few seconds when logged in normally it seems , and it is NOT coming up in safe mode

Try a Clean Boot procedure (2 pages) to possibly isolate a misbehaving application when running in Normal Mode.

At the first step, disabled all non-microsott services, and all startup program, it still didnt fix it......so whats that mean? Theres a Microsoft service that doesnt start up in safe mode thats messing me up?

That might just be the cause. Something in Normal Mode is making the Server service fail.

Are you sure that network adapter is really compatible?

The network adapter is fine --
had it for 2 year built into laptops
i can still connect and get into ventrilo and other apps
, i can still get online using IETAB2 in firefox,
I'm actually using it to write this as we speak through IETAB2
I'm gonna check the dependencies for that browser service, see if that helps
PS thnx for all your suggestions, its good to at least have a response, so many questions ive asked on here have gotten no response

In Safe Mode, Windows only loads the bare minimum of software that is required for the operating system to work. Other drivers may be misbehaving...

Autoruns can be useful in disabling specific items, like drivers, from loading at Windows startup.

    Not even Windows Firewall?
