When I click on check for updates, (after going through the start menu access to the update site) I get this message; Windows update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.
I have restarted several times to no avail. Also attempted system restore which says unsuccessful each time. Open for suggestions!!

Press the Windows key + R to open a Run box.

    Type services.msc

    Click OK.

Locate the Windows Update service. Make sure it's Started and Automatic.

Mr. fixit ran for about 30 seconds and then gave a message that it could not continue because of an error. Did not give a code or any info about the error.
