Solved: Cannot format hard drive

    Have a 160 g seagate sata hard drive that has a bad install of xp on it and am trying to format it to get rid of the bad install so I can install windows 7. Have it attached to another machine and tried to format but it still has the bad install of xp there. cant get rid of it. am I doing something wrong? Obviously, huh. write protected possibly...I dont know. Thanks.

    Why not put the drive in the windows 7 computer and boot with a windows cd?

    The above is one way, you can also boot with a seatools diagnostic disk and zero fill or wipe the drive. You can also run a test on the drive with the seatools disk [which would be a good idea on that old of a drive]
