Win 7 64bit with MS Office 2003 Pro with SP3.

Tried opening a 'docx' from a known source created with Office 2007, But my Word would not open it and telling me to download 'file format converter from MS.

Downloaded and installed, still can't open 'docx' and still telling me to download and install the same file.

Opened Control Panel and the 'File Format Converter' file is not shown as being installed.

Tried installing as 'Adminstrator', no joy. My A/virus or Malware show any alarms or any logging of any problems.

    Any clues

    Thanks

    Same place as the link.

Whether right or wrong I did not download any of the others listed within the link for Office 2007 etc. where the converter file is not being installed although it is shown to be doing so.

    thanks

ms is accurate; you do need that to convert older office files. Did you install with an elevated prompt?

    Solved.......

    Uninstalled MS Office and re-installed.
Converter file re-installed and now shown as installed on Control Panel, but still not working.
Updated any updates available from MS.
    Converter file still not working.
From Control Panel, highlighted the 'Compatibly Converter File' and clicked on 'Repair'.

    All now OK and working.

    Thanks
