Help needed. I'm using Windows XP and IE 6, with Cable & Wireless broadband. I am unable to visit websites / web pages after a while. Initially after internet connection, I can surf the web, but after 1-2 hours, I can't reach any webpage anymore, IE / Firefox cannot find any site. I've tried shutting down / restarting several times and it doesn't always work. What should I do? Here's an HJK log just in case. Thank you for your help.

    Try this:

After the internet stops responding, right-click the local area connection icon in the lower bottom right of the screen and click on Open Network Connections. If you don't have the local area connection icon there, right-click My Network Places and click on Properties. From there, right-click local area connection and click on Properties. From there, click on the Support tab near the top and then hit Repair near near the middle of the window. Once that is complete, see if you can connect to the internet.

BTW--are you using both cables and a wireless device to connect to the internet? How is your computer set up to connect to the internet? Through wireless or ethernet cables?

Thanks. My connection is wireless. The setup used to work very smoothly. But now, but after a while I can't reach webpages anymore. E.mail with Outloook express works slowly.

You can power down and reboot your wireless router--and your cable modem. Sometimes, you just gotta make 'em forget...

Thank you for your reply. The problem seems to be solved. I updated some Windows components, which I may have lost recently when I did a clean up with Norton, further to a virus infection. Some files could have been corrupted / erased. Anyway, it looks like it's back to normal. Thank you for the fast reply and advice.
