Okay, I thought I had it sorted...Ive linked up my laptops SATA drive to my Desktop using a USB adapter cable thingy.

Its dectected it and everything, the problem is when I try and click on the folder with my laptops name (is this making sense?) it says 'access denied' Why is this? I cant get at any of the files I want to back-up!

Have I made a mistake hooking it up? I can get at some stuff (programs, shared stuff etc) but nothing in the folder with my name.....

Can anyone please help? Im at my wits end!

Additional, when I click properties on my folder it says it contains 0 folders and 0 bytes.....does this mean all my data has been totally wiped?!

What kind of USB cable "thingy" did you use?

Sounds like you need to take ownership of the files and folders.
