I am using a 2Wire1701HG Router with AT&T DSL abd Windows XP Home. Has been working fine since I hooked up on August 11th. Have both a laptop and desktop that was using the wireless router. The other evening in the middle of the night we had a power outage. Ever since then, I cannot get connection to the internet on either the desktop or the laptop. The wireless signal strength is excellent on both computers, but no internet. The Broadband lights all are on and steady on the router. I read through some of the other threads and know that you will ask me to do some things, but I may need assistance getting to those steps, ie ipconfig/all etc.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I forgot to mention that I unplugged the router to reset, and also hardwired to the back of the router still didnt have internet.

Call AT&T? They can tell you for sure if your internet is working or not. Then you can go from there.

Are you sure it's a 1701HG ? That's a rather old model.

You have to get into the router and get some stats. Here's mine:

FRI SEP 26 13:51:15 2008 Setting System clock to Daylight Savings Time FRI SEP 26 13:51:15 2008

FRI SEP 26 13:50:53 2008 US Atten: 11.5 DS Atten: 27.5

FRI SEP 26 13:50:53 2008 US Margin: 17.0 DS Margin: 19.0

FRI SEP 26 13:50:53 2008 US Tx Power: 11.1 DS Tx Power: 8.8

FRI SEP 26 13:50:53 2008 US DSL Rate: 768 kbits/sec DS DSL Rate: 6016 kbits/sec

FRI SEP 26 13:50:53 2008 WanMgr reports DSL is UP

FRI SEP 26 13:50:37 2008 Model Number: C90-610030-06

FRI SEP 26 13:50:37 2008 Software Version: VER:03.00.88

FRI SEP 26 13:50:37 2008 Product: WireSpeed Dual Connect Model: NAT Combo

Most important is the sync rate.

See if this works:

Open a browser and type http://gateway.2wire.net or http://192.168.1.254; hopefully the 2Wire Home page opens. Look around to find the stats/diagnostics.

Thanks all for the help. Turns our it was on the AT&T side. The username expired for some reason and I had to go into the router and type a new one.

Just happened to take place the same night the power went out, that was weird. lol
